Dear Parents and Carers,
Ofsted inspection – final report
I have great pleasure in enclosing the final report from our recent Ofsted inspection which I hope you will enjoy reading. As you will see we have achieved the highest possible grades in all areas and have been rated as an Outstanding school overall.
I am particularly pleased that we have achieved this result as our last Ofsted was in 2008 and you will know that the Ofsted standards have increased significantly since then i.e. to be an Outstanding school in 2013 is much more challenging than it was in 2008. The inspection process was fair, rigorous and thorough. It was a highly evidence based approach and one which validated our own self-evaluation and judgements.
This means that our last three Ofsted inspections have all rated the school as outstanding – a very rare event in the country.
Although Ofsted is only one way of measuring a school’s success I do feel that this report is a validation of our staff and pupils’ hard and effective work. We are particularly pleased with the comments that show the strength of teamwork, high standards and the rigour which helps to make our school such a positive learning community.
The report´s comments about the children´s attitudes to learning, the highly effective learning and progress created by teachers, the excellence of the leadership team and middle leaders and the excellence of our support staff are all testament to the hard work and dedication shown by everyone in all that we do.
I am incredibly proud to lead this outstanding school and would like to thank staff, pupils and families/carers for their past and continuing support.

All schools are regularly inspected by Ofsted. John Ball was last inspected in June 2008 and judged to be ‘outstanding’. The report from that inspection can be downloaded below.
In May 2011 we received an Interim Assessment Statement, which reviews our performance since our last inspection. It judged that the school remained ‘outstanding’. This statement can be downloaded below.
Details about John Ball’s inspections can be found on the Ofsted website.
