Google Classrooms – contingency for school closure
In the case of future school closure, remote learning will be set on Google Classrooms. The arrangements will remain as they did for the home-learning from 1st June. You can find more information about how this provision below. Please note: updated information will be provided in the event of future school closures. However, the structure and platform arrangements will remain the same.
Expectations of Home Learning
Expectations for a child who is unwell
Should a child be unwell and therefore unable to attend school, home learning will not be provided.
Expectations for a child who is well but is not attending school due to following government guidance
In the event that a household are following government advice (e.g. waiting for a test) and the child is well, Google Classrooms can be used. The platform will hold a small number of home learning tasks which will broadly relate to the learning intentions for the term. This can be used in the event of a short term absence. These resources will be updated once per term.
Expectations for a child who is well but absent from school for 14 days following a positive COVID-19 test in their household
Should a child subsequently be required to isolate at home for 14 days, a member of the Senior Leadership Team will work with parents to ensure they know where to access appropriate lessons and resources for the period of isolation. This may include using Oak National Academy or BBC bitesize but will be in line with curriculum expectations.
End of year expectations
We recognise that for some families, having access to end of year learning outcomes would be helpful.
At John Ball we use Learning Ladders to define end of year expectations. We have linked these expectations below should you wish to explore them. Please note that they are not prescriptive and a degree of flexibility is required when teachers assess children in school; recognsing that some children will be performing at the attainment levels of the year group above or below.
You can click on the titles below to explore the individual year group outcomes.
