Welcome to John Ball Primary’s website
Welcome to the John Ball Primary School Website. At John Ball we offer you and your children a warm welcome to the school and hope that time spent with us is successful and enjoyable. Whether you are an existing member of the John Ball community, a prospective parent or just an interested visitor we hope you find the site interesting and informative.
Our school is continually responding and changing to offer the highest quality of education for our children. We are committed to offering our pupils a broad curriculum and the opportunity to excel academically, in sport and the arts, all within a safe and caring environment. Due to this we are a popular and highly oversubscribed school, recognised by Ofsted as being an Outstanding Provider. Our Safeguarding Policy sets out the measures in place to ensure that this happens. Our policy can be found under “Our School” / “School Policies” Tab
John Ball is one of the highest performing schools in Lewisham and England. In 2014 we were recognized by the Sunday Times as being one of the top 500 schools in the country. Since 2013 our KS2 results have been in the top 10% of schools nationally. In 2015 we achieved the highest results ever and are proud to be the top school in Lewisham after 98% of our pupils achieved Level 4 in Reading, Writing and Maths combined, the key performance indicator for the DfE.
School Achievement, Results and Ofsted
I have great pleasure in enclosing the final report from our recent Ofsted inspection which I hope you will enjoy reading. As you will see we have achieved the highest possible grades in all areas and have been rated as an Outstanding school overall.
When staff and Governors reviewed our curriculum in 2011-12 we decided to adopt the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). We believe that the IPC best meets the needs of our children and offers a comprehensive curriculum with a clear process of learning and specific learning goals for every subject.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
Inclusion and Local Offer
At John Ball our key mission is “Achievement, ambition and progress for all…”
We believe passionately in the inclusion of all pupils regardless of their needs. Our business is to support children overcome any barriers to their learning that they may experience.
